The method involves detecting current condition of a push button-relay control unit on optical way. A remote controlled actuation of the push button-relay control unit takes place by a mechanical actuation of the control elements of the push button-relay control unit. The detection of the current condition of the push button-relay control unit takes place by an optical detection of the surface of the control desk (1) of the push button-relay control unit. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for remote control of a push button-relay control unit.
