Mercury measuring method for use during e.g. waste incineration, involves splitting mercury compounds to obtain atomic mercury, whose concentration is measured by photometer, where gas comes into contact with boron compounds
The method involves splitting mercury compounds in burnt gas by a splitting device (16) e.g. boric thermo-catalytic filter, to obtain atomic mercury, whose concentration is measured by a photometer (18). The gas comes into contact with boric materials, with exclusion of boron nitride, and with boron compounds e.g. titanium diboride, magnesium diboride, boron carbide, ferroboron, lanthanum hexaboride and boron trioxide, for splitting the mercury compounds. The boric materials and/or boron compounds are heated on temperatures in a range of 200 to 500 degrees centigrade. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring mercury in a gas.
