The invention relates to a method for the efficient and extremely simple and inexpensive parallel isolation of double-stranded and single-stranded nucleic acids. According to the invention, the double-stranded nucleic acid in the absence of alcohol or alkaline earth ion complexing substances or washing, dispensing or wetting agents with an aqueous salt solution in a concentration greater than 1 M is adjusted so that the double-stranded nucleic acid is adsorbed to a solid support, while the single-stranded Nucleic acid is not adsorbed and remains in the solution.
