The device has checking areas (2.1-2.5) mountable or dismountable with respect to each other such that a variable terminal (1) is arrangable in a temporary and mobile manner. The terminal is selectively segmentable for a bidirectional or a unidirectional checking in the checking areas. The checking areas are arranged in common area coverings (6) and are separable from each other by adjustable partition walls (4). The checking area (2.1) is formed as an arrival area (A), and the checking areas (2.3-2.5) are formed as a dispatch area (D) during a bi-directional segmenting.
