The adapter-software utilizes a net weaver-virus scan interface (NW-VSI) application programming interface (API). Data to be scanned is integrated in a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) site, and is routed in a loop in reverse to a sending adapter over an HTTP-proxy link in which virus/content checking is implemented. The virus and content checking function is carried out on the proxy or over a connection of a third product such as Internet content adaptation protocol (ICAP) according to request for comments (RFC) 3507 or web cache communication protocol (WCCP).
