The front airbag is released by a premature initiation signal prior to actual collision or crash, when drastic reduction in working distance between the vehicle and a preceding obstacle e.g. another vehicle, a pedestrian, indicates that the collision is unavoidable. The initiation signal also cuts off the electrical connection in the vehicle prior to actual collision.
