The method involves producing hydrogen-rich gas in a reformer (12) from a hydrocarbon-rich fuel under hydrogen surplus of an anode of a fuel cell (14), and hydrogenous anode off gas is developed. The hydrogen is separated and is led back to the reformer from the anode off gas. The reformer separated from the anode off gas is led back. The gas remaining after separation from the anode off gas is supplied and burned to a burner (20).
