Radio acoustic wind profiler for measurement of two or three dimensional vectors of e.g. wind speed, has acoustic antennas sending acoustic waves in alternate spatial directions, where electromagnetic waves run to backscattering directions
The device has acoustic antennas (1) transmitting acoustic waves in alternate spatial directions. Transmitting antennas (2, 3) send electromagnetic waves in the directions. The electromagnetic waves run from the spatial directions to backscattering directions on receiving antennas (4, 5). Components of a flow rate vector are derived from a frequency of receiving signals during changing the backscattering directions. Acoustic transmissions are pulse or frequency modulated, where a time period between the acoustic transmission and signals caused by the transmission serves distance resolution.
