The method involves regenerating catholyte by contact with atmospheric oxygen. An anolyte is regenerated by contact with carbon monoxide, with metal such as iron, zinc and nickel, with metallion chemical or with an electrolytic cell in an electro-chemical manner. The carbon monoxide is produced by partial oxidation or reformation of a fuel. The electrolytic cell is formed as electrolysis mono cell or as a stack configuration. An independent claim is also included for a vanadium-redox-battery comprising a container.
