The production line has conveying pallets (3) displaced to successive working stations, where work pieces (2) e.g. motor vehicle chassis components, are positioned at the conveying pallets. The pallets have grid-shaped supports identical to each other and corresponding adaptors (9) inserted into work piece-specific selective supports in a custom-fit manner. The adaptors are provided with carrier elements (18), which are differently formed based on type of the work piece and associate a work piece-side preset fixed point with a grid-shaped adjacent adaptor position.
