The method involves monitoring a transport path of luggage between a check-in area (1) and a sorting-target using readable information carrier. Sub-areas of the path are monitored by a video capturing system. An installed reading device is provided in the sub-areas for the carrier. Recordings of luggage pieces passing through the sub-areas are stored over fixed temporary time period. A signal is released during absence of expected reading of the reading device before reaching the sorting-target and is used for causes-verification of omitted reading using the final video recording of pieces.
