The method involves determining a condition of produced internal stress on a surface of a sample. An alternating current signal with a changing frequency is given to a testing circuit and the characteristics of the frequency response of the impedance of the testing circuit are obtained as sample data. The coil provided in the testing circuit is arranged at the surface of the sample. The data obtained for the test sample is compared with the sample data, and a condition of the internal stress produced in the sample is tested based on the condition of the internal stress of the sample. An independent claim is also included for a device for non-destructive testing of a surface, which is to be treated by shot-blasting.
