The device (10) has a target telescope (17) rotatable around a horizontal axis (Lh) and a vertical axis (Lp) between a position for a straight view and another position for an inverse view. An imaging device is integrally rotatable with the telescope, and has an optical axis (L1) arranged parallel to a target axis (L0). A processor is provided for calculating external orientation parameters of stereo images, which are produced by the imaging device during the straight view and the inverse view in dependent of the position of their optical axis relative to the target axis.
