The device has a light source (2) that is arranged such that the proximity of the eye background or the retina (5) is illustrated. The produced light spot is eccentric to the symmetry axis (12) of the eye which is examined. A scanning device is provided, by which the light spot is moved over the eye background or the retina. An independent claim is also included for a device for eye examination by an eccentric photo refraction.
