The method involves arranging a tubular or rod-shaped ceramic body as a fuse carrier between pole caps (5), which are arranged on a front side of an electric circuit. Change of fuses (1) is effected by overvoltage, overload, short circuit and a thermal effect from a consequence of melting of a melting conductor, where distortion and/or impracticality of the fuses is visible by the change of the fuses. The cohesion of the fuse carriers, which consist of two partial pieces, which are arranged one behind the other in a longitudinal direction, is distorted during melting of the melting conductor. An independent claim is also included for a fuse comprising a tubular or rod-shaped ceramic.
