The system has a maintaining unit connected to a backrest (1b) of a front seat (1), and formed by a board (4). The unit co-operates with bottom of a base (2a) of a rear seat (2) in portfolio position, to maintain the rear seat in support against the backrest independent of longitudinal position of the front seat. The board has a flap (5) movable between a position, in which the flap extends vertically and downwards so as to be supported against the bottom of the base, and another position in which the flap extends parallel to rest of the board.
