The device (1) has an inflating chamber (2) e.g. deformable pouch, whose volume is modifiable by injection or withdrawal of an inflating fluid. A pressure limiter unit (4) is arranged for maintaining filling pressure of the inflating fluid reigning in the inflating chamber below a critical pressure when the inflating fluid is injected into the inflating chamber. The limiter unit is provided with an exhaust unit (11) e.g. overflow duct, for communicating the chamber with exterior of the device to partly evacuate the inflating fluid towards the exterior of the device.
