The method involves calibrating a temperature of an exhaust gas based on a controlled or spontaneous internal combustion engine parameter e.g. driving state of an accelerator pedal, engine speed, intake air temperature and inlet pressure. A real temperature of the exhaust gas is compared with respect to a reference temperature for a same value of the engine parameter. The calibrated temperature is associated with engine cartographies controlling a fuel e.g. petrol, injection time based on values of the engine parameter.
