The system has a data storing unit for storing information describing paths previously traveled by a vehicle, where the information is associated to regeneration parameters e.g. parameter relative to regeneration efficiency. The parameters describe evolution of regeneration for each path. A calculator (34) has a calculation unit for determining information relative to a future path and regeneration parameters relative to evolution of the future path from the stored data. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling regeneration of a particle filter of an exhaust line of a motor vehicle.
