New fluorescent dye compounds consist of omega -(substituted alkylamino-naphthalimido)-alkanethiol compounds (I), omega -(naphthalimidyl-amino)-alkanethiol compounds (II) or their S-substituted derivatives. Naphthalimido- or naphthalimidylamino-substituted thiol derivative fluorescent dye compounds of formulae (I) and (II) and their mineral or organic acid addition salts, optical and geometric isomers, hydrates and other solvates are new.
