The assembly has a dipstick guide (80) emerging along an inlet (80b) at the exterior of an internal combustion engine (1). A check valve (83) is disposed between the inlet of the dipstick guide and an oil return duct (8). The check valve does not oppose introduction of a gauge (9), while closing the check valve in absence of the gauge. O-ring seals (82) are provided between the inlet and the oil return duct. The dipstick guide houses the gauge that is equipped with a cap for closing the inlet in a sealed manner.
