The device has a pulser (1) e.g. motor driven fan, for conveying air flow (5) across a case (100) for cooling the air flow to be conveyed to a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, where the case houses an evaporator (2). A desiccant filter (7) is placed in the upstream of evaporator (2) for decreasing energy needs of the evaporator. The desiccant filter is positioned for being lapped by the air flow, and includes porous material (9) to run off the desiccant solution (10) such as aqueous solution containing desiccant salts.
