PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect even small discoloration that is easily overlooked, with high sensitivity, by utilizing the chroma distribution of wood's surface.;SOLUTION: Color photographing is performed on each wood by a photographing means 8, the chroma distribution of the color image photographed by the photographing means 8 is calculated for each wood by an image processing means 1, the cumulative frequency distribution of the calculated chroma distribution is compared with the predetermined cumulative frequency distribution of normal wood. The wood showing a distribution, where the cumulative frequency distribution of the calculated chroma distribution is separated by a predetermined value or above from the cumulative frequency distribution of the normal wood, is set as wood which should be sorted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
