PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consumption tax rate change device and a consumption tax rate change method in a price tag printer, allowing a changeover by comparatively simple work not only when a consumption tax rate is changed but also when a plurality of consumption tax rates are mixed. PSOLUTION: This consumption tax rate change device is invented by paying attention to that a concrete numerical value of the consumption tax rate is unitarily stored in a central control part or a personal computer 11 portion and is managed without registering (storing) the concrete numerical value in a format file 2 of each price tag 1. In the consumption tax rate change device, a control part 14 allows setting of the consumption tax rate to at least two kinds of numerical values, and has a tax rate setting file 22 capable of storing the respective set numerical values as a first consumption tax rate and a second consumption tax rate, and the format file 2 allows storage of selected one of the first consumption tax rate and the second consumption tax rate set in the tax rate setting file 22.
