PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small Lame-mode crystal vibrator operating at frequencies of 10 MHz and below and having a large Q value.;SOLUTION: A piezoelectric vibration element is provided with: a piezoelectric substrate 6 consisting of a piezoelectric substrate body 7 made of a piezoelectric material contour-vibrating based on excitation, and a protrusion 10 made of the material same as that of the piezoelectric substrate and formed upright on at least the one surface side of a portion as a knot of the contour vibration of the main surface of the piezoelectric substrate body; and excitation electrodes formed on both the main surfaces of the piezoelectric substrate surface.
