PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable portable telephone for maintaining the brightness of emitted light of a key backlight constant without depending upon a condition, and a LED control method of the foldable portable telephone.;SOLUTION: The foldable portable telephone has an illumination detecting means arranged on the same surface as that of a display device and arranged so as to face one of keypads illuminated by a LED for a key backlight in a folded state, and a control means for determining an output of the illumination detecting means obtained by turning on the key backlight in the folded state just after detecting a start of a housing operation and controlling the brightness of the LED of the key backlight when the key is used, so as to adjust the brightness within a prescribed range.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
