PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch-controlling agent for papermaking that can control the pitch trouble occurring in the papermaking process, particularly in the pulp and paper-producing processes and provide a method of inhibiting pitch adhesion during the papermaking process. ;SOLUTION: The pitch-controlling agent according to this invention mainly comprises a polyoxyethylenealkylmethylammonium chloride having the chemical structure of the formula (wherein R=an 8-18C alkyl group; the ethylene oxide addition molar number (m+n)=3-25). This pitch-controlling agent is added to the water for washing the felt or the flowing water and washing water for the Fourdrinier in the papermaking process and the like in an amount of 0.005-0.1 wt.% whereby the pitch is solubilized and dispersed to inhibit adhesion to the pulp and paper.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
