PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autothermal reforming device in which, when a honeycomb catalyst is used, the occurrence of hot spots and cold spots depending on the cells in the honeycomb is prevented and the slippage of raw materials and the production of byproducts are reduced. PSOLUTION: The autothermal reforming device 1 contains a honeycomb catalyst layer 2, and a reforming raw material, steam and an oxygen-containing gas are supplied from the inlet side of the catalyst layer to produce a reformed gas. The honeycomb catalyst layer 2, at the prestage thereof, is provided with a pre-catalyst layer 3 filled with a particulate or a foam catalyst. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
