PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new adaptor molecule to be bound to a Toll-like receptor 4 recognizing a lipopolysaccharide which is the cell membrane-constituting component of gram-negative bacterium, to provide a gene for the new adaptor molecule, and to provide a medicine utilizing them, and the like.;SOLUTION: This new adaptor molecule TICAM-2 (TIR domain-containing adaptor molecule 2) comprising a specific amino acid sequence has a function for cross-linking TLR4 to TICAM-1 to transmit the signal of LPS/TLR4 to the TICAM-1, thus inducing the production of the type 1 interferon. The gene is a gene encoding the adaptor molecule TICAM-2. The protein and the gene can be used for creating, researching, etc, medicines useful for preventing/treating diseases for which the type 1 interferon is effective, or medicines useful for preventing/treating injurious phenomena caused by the type 1 interferon, and can widely be applied to medical treatment fields.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
