PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new substance produced by a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces, having antiviral activities and useful as an antiviral agent. ;SOLUTION: This glycolipid AH-2445 is represented by the formula {(n), n', n'' and n''' are each an integer and the number of side-chain methylene groups; the sum total of the methylene groups N=[(n)+n'+n''+n'''] is 32-56}, e.g. a substance having the following properties: propery: colorless oily; molecular weight: 1,570; molecular reaction: C₈₁H₁₅₀O₂₈; specific rotatory power (in 0.1% methanol): -191° and solubility: soluble in water and methanol and insoluble in acetone, chloroform, etc. The substance is obtained by culturing a strain capable of producing the glycolipid AH-2445 [e.g. Streptomyces microflavus No. 2445 strain (FERM P-16524) which is a new soil actinomycetous strain] in a culture medium and then separating and collecting the resultant substance from its cultured product. The culture is preferably carried out at about 28°C culture temperature and about pH 7 of the culture medium under aerobic conditions.
