USE OF METHYLNALTREXONE AND CORRELATE COMPOUNDS TO TREAT POST-OPERATIVE GASTRINTESTINAL DYfunction. Methods and compositions for the postoperative treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction are provided. The methods include administering a quaternary noroxymorphone derivative (e.g., methylnaltrexone) to a patient after a segmental colectomy is performed on the patient.
