MECHANIZED PROCESS FOR AMMONIATION OF WHEAT STRAW

Mechanized process for ammoniation or wheat straw is a eco-friendly, cost effective and feasible technology. At farmers field, this process can easily ased without any hindrance as farmers are well versed with mechanized threshing and manual ammoniation of wheat straw. The traditional method used for the treatment of straw with urea/ammonia/supplement to improve the nutritional quality of such poor quality straw, which make the process infeasible and uneconomical. To overcome this problem, this process of ammoniation has been developed by which farmers can perform both the functions i.e. threshing and treatment at same time at farmers field without any extra labour cost, power and time. Thus, farmers can produce improved quality of treated wheat straw without involving any extra expenditure on labour, power, etc. Urea treated wheat straw contains about 3 times higher crude protein and 1.5 times higher energy content as compared to untreated wheat straw. Treated straw can safely be stored for longer period and can be fed to the ruminants without any problem. As compared to manual mixing, uniform mixing of urea and other chemicals with straw can be done by this process. As a result of uniform mixing, better quality of product (treated straw) has been produced and this type of treatment of straw reduces the chances of urea toxicity in ruminants.
