摘要
Bottom wear now available for use by Indian women is not adaptable to the needs of a pregnant woman; in particular bottom wear for Indian women is almost always secured using a draw string that rests at the mid portion of the abdomen of the woman. This tends to slip off when the abdomen grows at the time of pregnancy and the abdomen becomes greater in girth that the hip portion of the woman. Indian women resort to wearing over sized clothes to cover up their growing abdomen. The bottom wear used by Indian women does not have the provision for expanding to fit comfortably around her growing abdomen. This invention remedies all of the above drawbacks in a very cost-effective manner by using a combination of woven and knit fabric for the upper portion of the garment that covers the abdomen and using a wider section for the portion of the garment above the fork of the legs. This ensures that the belt portion of the garment rests at the upper region of a woman's abdomen, that is lesser in girth compared to middle and lower abdomen and therefore does not slip down and that the portion of the garment covering the abdomen is able to expand to accommodate the growing abdomen of a pregnant woman. The fastening used for the invented garment is a combination of draw string and elastic band, because of which the draw string does not need to be excessively tightened since the elastic compensates for slight changes in the girth of the woman's abdomen during the course of the day.
