METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING SEVERITY OF DISTAL SYMMETRICAL POLYNEUROPATHY IN DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE 2

A method for diagnosing the severity of the distal symmetrical polyneuropathy in diabetes mellitus type 2 comprises the detection of the following symptoms: paresthesia, heartburn, numbness, pain, cramps, hyperesthesia. The severity of each symptom is scored in points. The additional symptoms are diagnosed: "positive" such as allodynia, lumbago and "negative" such as swelling of the feet and the ankles, unsteadiness in walking.
