The invention relates to a method for selecting two contrast media for use ina dual-energy CT examination of apatient. Said method comprises the following: determination of the gradient(m) (= base gradient) of a connecting line in an HUvalue diagram of energy-specific HU values between a first material or a firsttissue type (G1) and a second material or second tissuetype (G2), selection of a first contrast medium (K1) with an enhanced gradient(m1), which is significantly higher than the determinedbase gradient (m), and selection of a second contrast medium (K2), theenhancement gradient (m2) of which lies in the significantregion of the determined base gradient (m). The invention also relates to acontrast medium combination that has been selected inthis way and to the generation of CT images using a contrast mediumcombination that has been selected in this way, with the aidof different energy spectra.
