The present invention provides a method for improving the productivity of a cultivation pond, preventing a repeating cultivation failure, recovering the pond where no cultivation is made due to a repeating cultivation failure, and improving the environment of shallow ocean water on tideland that has deteriorated due to organic burden. The present invention is directed to a method for converting an organic matter into feedstuff for benthos, comprising: blending an amorphous ferric hydroxide with at least one of the organic matters A and B or scattering the amorphous ferric hydroxide over the bottom of either a cultivation pond or shallow ocean water on tideland, wherein the organic matter A is a deposited organic matter on a bottom and the organic matter B is in a soil on the bottom.
