Disclosed is a cataract examination device of a simple device construction that can be used to easily examine cataracts, a cataract examination method and a cataract assessment program. One embodiment of the cataract examination device of this invention is constituted by a flash (22) that projects light from a light source as projected light onto an eye, a camera (21) that picks up the distribution of reflected light of the projected light from the crystalline lens of the eye as image data, and a computer (23), wherein the computer (23) functions as a pupil-detecting means (23a) that detects a pupil image region from the image data, a reflected image-detecting means (23b) that detects a reflected image at the anterior surface of the crystalline lens of the eye from the pupil image region, and a reflected image presence assessment means (23c) that assesses the presence or absence of a reflected image on the posterior surface of the crystalline lens of the eye using the pupil image region and the reflected image at the anterior surface of the crystalline lens.
