A method for error compensation of temperature deviations in barometrically supported inertia sensor systems, in which measured values of acceleration are collected (10) and optionally suitably transformed, and a corresponding acceleration signal is produced and integrated (20) once for producing a signal representing a geodetic vertical speed (GVS), said acceleration signal being integrated (30) a second time for producing a signal indicating the elevation (IFBA), wherein the obtained signal indicating the elevation is matched (82) to an elevation value obtained from barometric measurement of a normalized standard atmosphere (HSTDBARO). The error compensation comprises producing a correction parameter representing a function of the deviation of the actual temperature (STT) from the standard temperature at the corresponding elevation, and the respective correction parameter representing the temperature deviation is applied to the signal produced from the acceleration measurements in the vertical direction (vert accel; GVS; IFBA) so that speed and position values (BVS; IFBA; IFBAPC) arise which nearly correspond to a barometric elevation signal.
