Method for producing agglomerate-free natural and synthetic fiber-reinforced thermoplastic semi-finished products and polymer melts by direct processing of endless fiber, fiber-reinforced semi-finished products thereof and their use
The method involves cutting a continuous fiber strand (2) made of synthetic and/or natural fibers in the form of filament, fiber band, fiber bundle or fiber optic cable into staple fibers. The staple fibers are passed via a screw conveyor in an extruder (8) i.e. double screw extruder. The staple fibers are impregnated and mixed with molten thermoplastic matrix material. The fiber strand is transported and opened by an air flow. Single fibers cut by a cutting device (5) are conveyed to the extruder via the screw conveyor by a suction device. The reinforcing fibers are made of jute, acryl, flax, cellulose chemical, hemp or sisal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a continuous strand-reinforced compound (2) a continuous strand-reinforced granulate (3) a continuous strand-reinforced polymer melt.
