METHOD FOR PACKET FIELD MODIFICATION IN NETWORK DEVICE

A method for converting a packet in a network device is provided to correct a checksum value of a received packet, thereby minimizing packet buffer capacity for packet buffering and packet delay time for calculation. The first comparison value is generated from checksum of a received packet(S702). A packet header is converted to generate a converted packet so that the received packet is transmitted to the next node. The second comparison value is generated from the received packet and header contents of the converted packet. A transmission packet is generated by correcting the converted packet based on comparison result of the first and second comparison results.
