The method involves making a homogeneous mixture (16) of a fuel type available in a combustion chamber (10). Another fuel type is injected into the chamber, so that the latter fuel type is present stacked in the chamber. The former fuel type is injected in such a manner that the homogeneous mixture of the former fuel type is present as poor, burnable mixture, where the former fuel type is injected in an amount to achieve an explosive mixture (18) at an operating point of an internal-combustion engine, where the operating point is available for the time of injection.
