The system has a linear guiding unit (1') provided with a guide rail (1). A longitudinal measuring unit (2) is movable parallel to a print control strip (4) that is imprinted on a printed sheet (3). The unit (2) is provided with a drive motor that is fed by a power supply for moving the unit (2). A measuring head (7) includes a light source with an upstream lens, and a spectral sensor with another lens. The unit (2) is detachably fixed in the guide rail and includes a transmitter for delivering measured data and a receiver for bidirectional data exchange with an external computer.
