The compartment (100) has a damping device (102) with a retainer (114) for a bar (110) that is movable relative to the retainer. Two attraction partners (118, 120) such as permanent magnets, electromagnets or ferromagnetic metals produce a contact force between the bar and the retainer by magnetic attraction of the partners. The contact force produces frictional force for damping the movement of the bar relative to the retainer, where the partners are arranged at the bar or the retainer or one of the partners is arranged at the bar and the other partner is arranged at the retainer.
