The electronic reversing contactor assembly has a micro controller (micro C), and multiple connected switching relays (RL1,RL2,RL3,RL4,RL5,RL6,RL7). The switching relays are provided for changing direction of rotation of the alternating current motor and for turning on and off the alternating current motor. The micro controller and the multiple switching relays are controlled such that switching operations of the switching relay takes place at the time of the zero passage of phases (L1,L2,L3) of line voltage adjacent to the switching relays. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an electronic reversing contactor assembly.
