The method involves receiving light from a detection region (2) by a respective reception objective of light receiving units (E1-E4). A combination of a light transmitter (S1) and the light receiving units for forming of temporal triangular light sensors in a light sensor arrangement (1) is activated at different base intervals by a control unit (11). A determination of an object position at a detection region is performed in an evaluation unit (12) based on measuring signals of the temporal triangular light sensors. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining a position of an object in a two-dimensional detection region.
