The method involves adjusting a fundamental laser beam (2) with a fundamental wavelength by a nonlinear optical arrangement so that a part of the fundamental laser beam is converted into a laser beam with a shorter wavelength than the fundamental wavelength. The fundamental laser beam is penetrated through the nonlinear optical arrangement and is emitted as a frequency-converted laser beam (4) from the nonlinear optical arrangement. The light output of the output laser beam is kept constant, and a temperature, assigned to the nonlinear optical arrangement, is varied. An independent claim is also included for a device for regulating the light output of a frequency-converted laser beam received by a nonlinear optical arrangement.
