The trough has a retaining device (2) for a planted pot (3), which is lowered to a watering container (1), and a functional holder (4) movable between two operating positions, where one of the operating positions define a watering position of the pot and the other operating position defines a draining position of the pot. The holder extends from the container to its edges (5) in the former operating position, while the holder is supported at the edges in the latter operating position such that the retaining device is held in the container together with the pot over a water surface (6).
