A processing unit (6) determines an operating range and/or time frame for a mobile user based on the ergo data and specific characteristics of the navigation route. The processing unit calculates a roadway and/or return path based on the specific characteristics of the navigation route and a charge condition of a battery. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining an operating range and/or time frame for a mobile user using a navigation device.
