The method involves providing a reference transponder (100) e.g. radio frequency identification transponder, and moving a transceiver device (40) relative to a spatial area, where the transceiver device receives location data of the transponder during movement with a transponder locating unit, and receives an image of the area during the movement with the reference transponder and a receiving unit (42) e.g. high frequency radar. The data and the image are synchronized after completing movement of the transceiver device. A pixel position of the transponder to be located is marked in the image. An independent claim is also included for a system for locating a transponder within a spatial area.
