The method involves assessing a safety system based on reconstruction of accidents with respect to the safety system. A realistic road trial with real and virtual components is performed during the reconstruction. A test run is performed as a stochastic simulation during the reconstruction. An accident corresponding to a reaction of drivers of motor vehicles is analyzed based on an action of the forwardly facing safety system. The accident is reconstructed based on data of a database with individual accident data and/or statistical data of multiple accidents.
